Saturday, Nov 5, 2011 • Barn Dance with Tommy James and the Black Tie Orchestra • SDLI

This Saturday evening at the Smithtown Brush Barn we will be having two swing bands! We will start off with a short set of dance music by a young group of musicians which Tom leads. Then for the main event we will have Tommy James and the Black Tie Orchestra give us that big band dance sound.

Lesson at 7:30PM. Bands from 8:00PM to 11:00PM.

Please note the name of the band is Black Tie Orchestra. We are not expecting anyone to show up wearing formal attire.

Also note that the daylight saving time changes this weekend, so you have an extra hour to stay up late.

You had your full of turkey and shopped to you dropped. Now it’s time to put on those dance shoes have an great evening out. Join your Swing Dance Long Island friends at the Smithtown Brush Barn during this Thanksgiving weekend. Dance lesson will start at 7:30PM and the band at 8:00PM. Brian Lewis and the New Vintage Swing will be performing for our dancing pleasure.

This event actually take the place of our December dance.

Being the fifth Tuesday of the month, our dance lesson at 7:30PM will be the Swing line dance called the Jitterbug Stroll. DJ music will begin at 8:00PM.

The dance is organized in groups of 6 bars of 8 beats each. each group of 6 bars faces a different direction on the dance floor - meaning the dancer turns 90 degrees every 6 bars. every group of 6 bars is organized in the following way: 3 bars of a signature step, 1 bar of stroll around/pivot turn, 1 bar of signature step and 1 bar of a break step that helps the dancer turn 90 degrees. The signature step is different for every group of 6 bars.
