Friday, Nov 9, 2007 • TGIF @ BROOKHAVEN - Tango / Rumba Line Dance • BNL
This coming Friday, Nov. 9th, BNL is having a “break” from their normal “partner” dancing lessons routine. Line dance lessons in “Argentine Tango”, and “Rumba” will be given by the well-known and popular line dance instructor & choreographer, SHERRY PALENCIA!
For the past 20 years, Sherry Palencia has become a well-known personality in the world of Line Dancing. Her talent as an Entertainer and her fame as a Dance Instructor have taken her from the Lincoln Center in New York to numerous engagements across the country. When dancing with her husband Ricky, they comprise a graceful and talented duo. Their masterful interpretation of the dance is entertaining and extremely enjoyable to watch.
Sherry’s personable method of instruction allows the participant to learn in a relaxed atmosphere, brought about by her enthusiasm and sense of humor.
In Sherry’s programs, you never make a mistake, but are being “creative”. A mis-step may evoke the comment, “The other left foot”. This congenial teaching method puts everyone at ease and appeals to beginners who feel they are attaining “Instant Success”.
First time dancers forget their inexperience and simply enjoy dancing with her. Students become her friends and tend to follow her from area to area.
It is never necessary to have a partner, since a combination of “Line” dances and “Mixers” ensures that everyone has a chance to participate. When Sherry says, “Let’s dance!” everybody dances!
In addition to Line dancing, Sherry and her talented husband Rick, are favorites on the floor with their interpretation of Two Step, Tango or West Coast Swing.
By the way, Sherry is currently the Prime Mover of the Argentine Tango Lovers of Long Island. They hold regular weekly lessons on Tuesdays at Mirelle’s in Westbury, and a social Milonga every last Sunday of the month.
